What is a BAHA?
This type of hearing solution bypasses problems in the outer or middle ear by sending vibrations via the skull bone directly to the inner ear where they can be processed by the brain as sound.
A Bone-Anchored Hearing Aid consist of a small implant that is surgically placed in the skull bone just behind your ear and a sound processor that attaches to a skin-penetrating abutment (connector) on the implant. The sound processor captures sound in much the same way as a conventional hearing aid. However, instead of sound transmission through the ear canal via air conduction, it transforms the sound into vibrations that are transmitted through your bone via the implant and directly into the cochlea in the inner ear. In this way, bone anchored hearing uses the body’s natural ability to conduct sound.

We also complete quality of life assessments, discuss funding pathways and counsel regarding expectations and outcomes.
A full report will be sent to your ENT surgeon who will determine the medical candidacy.
Ongoing BAHA Aftercare
After post-op review and clearance has been given by your ENT, our audiologists will fit the sound processor and explain ongoing management and care. This often occurs 2-4 weeks after surgery.
Our Audiologists work closely with your Ear Nose and Throat Specialist to keep them up to date on the progress with your BAHA and will report to them after each visit.
We continue to follow up every 6-12 months to ensure the sound levels are optimized for your hearing.
Over time we will assist you to update your sound processor as needed over the years to ensure you have the most up-to-date technology and additional listening devices you may need.sound.
