Fast, caring support for concerned parents.

We can test babies as young as 10 months old using Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA). If you notice delayed speech, frequent ear infections, or poor response to sound — book a test immediately, regardless of age.

Common signs include not responding to their name, unclear speech, turning up the TV, frequent mishearing, or delays in school or social development. A hearing test is the fastest way to find out.

We use age-appropriate methods like play-based testing, VRA, or pure tone audiometry to gently assess your child’s hearing. The experience is calm, fun, and adjusted to suit your child’s attention span and personality.

Visual Reinforcement Orientation Audiometry (VROA) is a hearing test used for children between 9 months and 3.5 years old. In this test, an audiologist encourages the child to turn their head towards a sound coming from a speaker. When the child responds correctly, they are rewarded with a visual stimulus, like a colourful video or puppet. The sound starts loud for training purposes and gradually decreases to assess the child’s response to softer sounds.

Play Audiometry is a hearing test for children aged 3.5 to 6 years. The child wears over-the-ear headphones and is taught to respond to sounds by, for example, throwing a toy into a box. Initially, the sounds are loud for training, and then the volume is lowered to assess how well they hear softer sounds. The activity can be adapted to keep the child engaged and focused during the test.

Pure Tone Audiometry is used for children aged 6 years and older, and it’s similar to the test adults undergo. The child wears over-the-ear headphones and is given a button to press when they hear a sound. They are trained to respond by pressing the button whenever they detect a sound. If needed, speech audiometry may also be conducted, where the child repeats short words heard through the headphones.

Not at all. Our audiologists are kind, patient, and trained in working with children. We make the experience playful and relaxed, so your child feels safe and at ease throughout the appointment.

Most appointments take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your child’s age and level of cooperation. We work at your child’s pace, not the clock.

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us. If your child does require further medical support, we’ll guide you through the next steps.

Yes. Your audiologist will go through the results immediately after the test and explain everything in clear, parent-friendly terms. We also provide a written report if needed for your GP, school, or support provider.

We’ll support you through the next steps, by updating your GP or specialist first. We then directly contact your local Hearing Australia office and provide them with a detailed Audiology report for one of their Paediatric Rehabilitation Specialists to take over. In Australia any child with a permanent hearing loss receives subsided hearing treatment through Hearing Australia.

Some tests may be partially covered depending on your plan. We’ll explain all fees clearly before your appointment — no hidden costs or surprises.

Absolutely. We regularly work with neurodivergent children and those with sensory sensitivities or speech delays. Our team is patient, flexible, and committed to ensuring a positive experience for every child.
